“Ryan Poehling’s OT Goal Lifts Ducks Over Oilers, Oilers Face Elimination”

Ryan Poehling’s overtime goal propelled the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4, putting the Oilers on the verge of elimination in the first round. The Ducks, who trailed by two goals early on and faced a third-period deficit, secured a 3-1 series lead with their third consecutive win over the Oilers.

Poehling’s winning goal came after Jeffrey Viel tied the game in the final minutes of regulation, marking the Ducks’ NHL-leading 10th multi-goal comeback of the season. Poehling’s shot ricocheted off an Edmonton skate and crossed the goal line under goalie Tristan Jarry, leading to a celebration on the ice despite initial uncertainty.

In a video review, it was confirmed that the puck had indeed crossed the goal line, although Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch expressed doubt. The Oilers’ defensive efforts improved in Game 4 compared to their previous performance, yet the Ducks managed to secure the victory.

The Ducks’ power play was effective, with Cutter Gauthier and Mikael Granlund scoring power-play goals in the second period. Lukas Dostal’s goaltending prowess, including key saves on Connor McDavid, played a crucial role in the Ducks’ success.

Despite a strong effort from Edmonton, including goals from Kasperi Kapanen and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the Oilers fell short in their comeback attempts. McDavid, suspected to be nursing an injury, contributed two assists in the game.

Game 5 is set to take place in Edmonton on Tuesday night, with the Ducks looking to close out the series and advance in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
