Legendary rock band Rush has teased a potential surprise at the upcoming 2026 Juno Awards in Hamilton. In a recent newsletter to fans, the band hinted at a special moment with Geddy & Alex, encouraging fans to attend the event on March 29.
Last fall, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced plans for a 2026 tour, marking the band’s first public performance with Anika Nilles, who replaced the late drummer Neil Peart following his passing in 2020. Nilles, a talented German drummer known for her popular YouTube channel and past collaborations with Jeff Beck, received high praise from Lee in a 2023 interview with the Guardian.
Although details remain scarce, if Rush takes the stage at the Junos, it will offer fans a glimpse of the current lineup before their upcoming world tour, dubbed Fifty Something. The tour is set to kick off in Los Angeles in June, with multiple shows in Toronto, Vancouver, and Edmonton scheduled throughout the year.
Since their formation in Toronto in 1968, Rush has released 19 studio albums and garnered numerous accolades, including 10 Juno Awards. Notably, the band’s achievements include winning the Juno for most promising group in 1975 and group of the year in ’78 and ’79. Additionally, Rush secured the first Juno Award for best hard rock/metal album in 1991 with their album “Presto.”
CBC Music has reached out to Rush for additional comments on their upcoming appearances.
