Justin Timberlake Struggles in Sobriety Test Arrest

Justin Timberlake faced challenges in completing roadside sobriety tests like walking in a straight line and balancing on one leg during a traffic stop in the Hamptons in 2024. Video footage released recently captured the pop star commenting to officers that the tests were quite difficult.

The footage, spanning roughly eight hours, documented Timberlake’s initial encounter with Sag Harbor police, who stopped him after he allegedly disregarded a stop sign, swerved out of his lane, and exhibited alcohol odor emanating from his BMW in June of that year. Timberlake informed the officers that he had consumed a single martini and was following his friends back home in the historic whaling village situated in the upscale beach community of the Hamptons, located approximately 160 kilometers east of New York City.

When asked about his presence in town, Timberlake mentioned he was on a global tour. Responding to the officer’s inquiry about the nature of his tour, Timberlake found it challenging to explain but eventually stated, “World tour. I’m Justin Timberlake.”

During the sobriety tests, Timberlake appeared flustered at times while attempting to follow the instructions, apologizing to the officers and mentioning his nervousness. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and expressed surprise at being arrested, questioning the officers about the reason for his detention.

At the police station, Timberlake was informed that he would be detained overnight, to which he reacted with astonishment, remarking, “I’m going to be here all night? You guys are wild, man,” and requesting the officer to keep the cell light on as they closed the door.

The release of the video by Sag Harbor police followed an agreement between the village and Timberlake’s legal team to disclose a redacted version of the footage. Timberlake’s attorneys had previously contested the release, citing concerns about privacy violation and potential harm to his reputation. However, they eventually acknowledged that the video did not breach privacy laws and consented to its publication.

Following his guilty plea to impaired driving in September 2024, Timberlake accepted a plea deal that included delivering a public service message cautioning against impaired driving. As part of the agreement, his initial misdemeanor charge was reduced to a non-criminal traffic violation, and he received a fine, community service hours, and a license suspension.
