“Cuban Church Shines Bright Amid Power Crisis”

In the midst of a church service following a repeated power outage in Cuba, a preacher at Renewal in Christ Church in Havana shared a message he received in a dream. Sunlight filled the room through an open window as a battery-powered light dimly illuminated the pulpit. Despite the lack of electricity in most of the city, the small evangelical church was packed with congregants.

Encouraging his flock, Pastor Daniel Cisnero urged them not to give up but to persevere. The church, located in East Havana, not only provides spiritual guidance but also engages in social work, offering meals to members and providing support to the elderly in need.

Cuba is grappling with challenges as the U.S. government’s oil blockade exacerbates the country’s existing infrastructure issues. The country’s power system, heavily reliant on oil for energy generation, is struggling due to fuel shortages, leading to a range of crises affecting public services and food accessibility.

Following two recent nationwide blackouts, efforts are underway to restore power across the country. Despite the hardships, international aid initiatives, such as the Nuestra América flotilla from Mexico, are delivering essential supplies to Cuba. The group, including several vessels carrying aid, is expected to arrive in Havana soon.

As Cuba faces ongoing power outages and economic difficulties, communities like the one in East Havana remain resilient. Residents, accustomed to adapting to challenging circumstances, continue to navigate daily life amid the disruptions caused by the power crisis and other hardships.
