“Sinner Triumphs Over Alcaraz in ATP Finals Showdown”

Jannik Sinner emerged victorious in the latest chapter of the “Sincaraz” rivalry in 2025. The second-seeded Sinner defeated top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (4), 7-5 to clinch the ATP Finals title on Sunday, marking their sixth face-off this year as the standout figures in men’s tennis.

Sinner successfully defended his title in front of his home crowd in Italy, securing his second win over Alcaraz this year, following his triumph over the Spaniard in the Wimbledon final. Expressing his joy, Sinner remarked, “It was an incredible season. To finish it this way, before my Italian fans, is very special for me.”

Despite Alcaraz holding the year-end No. 1 ranking and making his debut in the event’s final for the top eight players, Sinner’s victory added another chapter to their intense rivalry, with Alcaraz leading their overall career meetings 10-6.

The duo has notably clashed in the last three Grand Slam finals, with Alcaraz claiming victory in the French Open, Sinner avenging at Wimbledon, and Alcaraz triumphing at the U.S. Open. Their encounters also extended to the Italian Open and Cincinnati Open finals this year, with Alcaraz winning both encounters.

Looking ahead, Alcaraz expressed his eagerness for more showdowns in the upcoming year, to which Sinner responded optimistically about the exciting battles that lie ahead. Both players had a successful year on the major stage, with Sinner winning the Australian Open and Alcaraz securing four major titles.

In a dominant display, Sinner impressed the pro-Sinner crowd early in the match, saving a crucial set point and eventually clinching the first set in a tight tiebreaker. Alcaraz, despite receiving treatment on his right thigh during the match, couldn’t maintain his lead, allowing Sinner to secure victory with a break in the second set.

With his remarkable win, Sinner extended his unbeaten streak at the ATP Finals to 10 matches, showcasing his prowess on indoor hard courts with a winning streak of 31 matches. Additionally, in the doubles final, Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten defeated Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski 7-5, 6-3.
