“Canadian National Team Player Alistair Johnston Undergoes Hamstring Surgery”

Canadian national team player Alistair Johnston recently had surgery on his hamstring following a setback in his recovery from injury. The 27-year-old sustained the initial injury during a Champions League match for Glasgow Celtic in August. Despite returning to play in October, Johnston could only manage 23 minutes on the field before reinjuring himself. Johnston, who has represented Canada on 56 occasions and is a key player for coach Jesse Marsch, shared the news of his surgery on social media, expressing hope for a successful recovery. He mentioned the challenging nature of the past few months but looks forward to returning to full fitness later in the season. Johnston’s Celtic teammate Callum Osmand also underwent hamstring surgery and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period. Interim Celtic manager Martin O’Neill confirmed the severity of Johnston’s injury, revealing a tear in his hamstring as detected by a recent scan. Meanwhile, Marsch faces additional injury concerns ahead of upcoming friendlies in November, with several key players, including Alphonso Davies, Moise Bombito, Sam Adekugbe, Jacob Shaffelburg, Liam Millar, and Luc de Fougerolles, currently unavailable due to various fitness issues.
