The Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors have rescheduled their games to allow sports enthusiasts to watch the Blue Jays compete against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball’s championship event.
MLSE President and CEO Keith Pelley expressed pride in bringing the city’s teams together to offer fans a chance to witness a significant moment in Toronto and Canada’s history. The Rogers Centre in downtown Toronto will host Game 1 and Game 2 of the MLB championship series on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.
The Toronto Raptors rescheduled their home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Similarly, the Toronto Maple Leafs moved their game against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Additionally, the Leafs adjusted the start time of their game against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday to 6 p.m., while the Raptors will face the Houston Rockets on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Pelley acknowledged the collaborative effort required to make these schedule changes possible, involving various stakeholders such as leagues, coaches, players, and broadcasters. Both the Maple Leafs and Raptors will screen the World Series games on the Scotiabank Arena videoboard after their own matches.
Moreover, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ regular-season finale against the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday will commence at 7 p.m. The CFL team announced that fans attending the game can follow the World Series opener through in-stadium updates and live coverage on TVs around Hamilton Stadium, with the full broadcast displayed on the main videoboard post-game.
