Growing up in a musically inclined family, O’Hara’s sister is the renowned singer-songwriter Mary Margaret O’Hara. Despite pursuing acting as her primary career, music often played a significant role in her performances. O’Hara once mentioned in a 2018 interview with CBC’s “Q” that there was always music playing in their home, citing influences like Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, and Frank Sinatra.

One of O’Hara’s notable musical moments was her portrayal of Lola Heatherton on “SCTV” from 1976 to 1983.
