The Los Angeles Rams are set to acquire Myles Garrett, a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, in a significant trade with the Cleveland Browns, as revealed by sources familiar with the deal on Monday. The trade details are being finalized and the individuals sharing the information have opted to remain anonymous.
In exchange for Garrett, the Browns will receive Jared Verse, a pass rusher and linebacker, a first-round pick in the 2027 draft, and additional draft selections that are currently being negotiated.
Garrett, who had an outstanding season as the unanimous Defensive Player of the Year in the previous year with a record-breaking 23 sacks, has expressed frustration with the Browns’ recent performance despite signing a lucrative contract extension in March. This dissatisfaction led to the trade demand at the end of the 2024 season.
The Rams, known for their aggressive approach in acquiring top talent, have been actively making strategic trades under the leadership of general manager Les Snead. The inclusion of Garrett further strengthens their roster, which already boasts key players like Matthew Stafford and Jalen Ramsey.
In a separate deal, the New England Patriots have acquired star wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a first-round pick in 2028 and a fifth-round pick in 2027. Brown reunites with his former coach in New England after a successful stint in Philadelphia, where he made significant contributions to the team.
The move signifies the Patriots’ commitment to bolstering their offensive lineup, following the departure of Stefon Diggs. Brown’s addition is expected to enhance the team’s receiving options and further solidify their offensive capabilities for the upcoming season.
