A series of Russian missile and drone strikes in Ukraine’s capital and its vicinity caused injuries to at least 16 individuals overnight and into Thursday morning, as reported by local authorities.
The Kyiv City Military Administration disclosed that the attacks occurred at more than 10 locations, resulting in casualties that included a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Air Force announced that they successfully neutralized or eliminated 131 Russian aerial targets during the assault, primarily focusing on the Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa regions. The strikes were detected at 36 locations, with remnants from intercepted targets falling at five different points.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, the assault encompassed ballistic and cruise missiles, along with 157 drones and decoys. The Russian Defence Ministry stated that their military operations targeted metallurgical and electronics plants, military-industrial complex factories, as well as energy and transport facilities in the Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa regions.
In Odesa, seven individuals, including two children, sustained injuries, with residential buildings and infrastructure suffering damages. Furthermore, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported the destruction of a private residential building in Odesa, along with harm to warehouses, a kindergarten, vehicles, and garages in various locations.
In Kyiv, multiple districts experienced damage to warehouses, office buildings, residential structures, and vehicles. The Dniprovsky district witnessed harm to warehouses, residential buildings, and cars, while the Solomyansky and Darnitsky districts also reported damages to warehouses and vehicles.
Across the Kyiv region, the Obukhiv, Brovary, Fastiv, and Bucha districts were targeted, causing harm to civilian areas and infrastructure. Tymur Tkachenko, the head of the Kyiv Regional Administration, stated that a total of 33 sites were impacted, with the most severe destruction observed in the Brovary and Fastiv districts. The affected locations included private residences, warehouses, production facilities, and vehicles, with no casualties reported.
The situation remains fluid as authorities and emergency services continue to assess the extent of the damages and provide assistance to those affected.
