An Israeli airstrike carried out in the Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of at least two Palestinians and injuries to 13 others, as confirmed by medical personnel. The strike, which occurred in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood in western Gaza City, severely damaged a vehicle, as seen in footage shared on social media. Local medical sources requested assistance in identifying the two individuals who lost their lives and suffered dismemberment due to the explosion.
The Israeli military stated that the airstrike was directed at two Hamas militants, but did not provide additional details. Despite a U.S.-supported ceasefire established last October that curbed large-scale conflict in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes have persisted, with limited progress made towards a lasting peace agreement.
Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire terms and impeding efforts to implement U.S. President Donald Trump’s comprehensive strategy to resolve the Gaza crisis, which includes Israel’s withdrawal from the region and the disarmament of Hamas. In contrast, Israel claims that Hamas has violated the agreement.
According to health officials in Gaza, over 1,300 Palestinians, predominantly civilians, have lost their lives since the ceasefire went into effect. On the Israeli side, four soldiers have been reported killed by the military. Hamas typically does not disclose information regarding casualties among its fighters.
The conflict in Gaza was triggered by Hamas-led assaults on southern Israel in October 2023, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 individuals and the abduction of 251 others, according to Israeli reports. In response, Israel’s military operations claimed the lives of over 73,000 Palestinians before the ceasefire was implemented, as stated by Gaza health authorities.
