Therese Brisson has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Skate Canada, the organization revealed on Wednesday. She is scheduled to assume the position on July 27, taking over from Debra Armstrong, who held the role for ten years.
Brisson, a two-time Olympic medalist in women’s hockey, will be transitioning from her current role as president and CEO of Alpine Canada, where she has been for almost six years. She has also been actively involved with the Canadian Olympic Committee and Own the Podium.
In her new role at Skate Canada, Brisson will be responsible for managing the organization’s day-to-day activities and setting its strategic direction in collaboration with stakeholders nationwide. Her responsibilities will include promoting grassroots participation, fostering athlete excellence, and further advancing the sport of skating in Canada.
