A child aged two was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a water rescue incident along the Ottawa River, as reported by Gatineau Fire Services. Ottawa Paramedics were called in to aid firefighters in an ongoing rescue near Remic Rapids around 7 p.m. on Friday. The joint operation by paramedics and firefighters progressed along the river.
A news release mentioned the deployment of a drone and an airplane to locate the child, with both Gatineau and Ottawa fire departments conducting searches by boat, while police officers from both cities scoured the riverbanks. The airplane successfully located the child, who was then rescued from the water by first responders and given immediate resuscitation.
The child was swiftly transported to the hospital in critical condition, according to paramedics. Ottawa police, via social media, advised the public to steer clear of a section of the Kichi Zībī Mīkan due to the ongoing water rescue operation.
