Prince George RCMP have apprehended a man after receiving reports of an individual carrying a firearm at a CN railyard in Prince George. Witnesses observed an unauthorized man with a possible firearm at the CN railyard located near Terminal Boulevard and Industrial Way shortly before 10 a.m. PT on Sunday. The man was reported to be behaving suspiciously, attempting to gain access to buildings, vehicles, and trains.
According to witnesses, employees were instructed to take shelter as the situation unfolded. Upon police arrival, the man tried to escape in a vehicle but was stopped by law enforcement. Following a brief altercation, the man, identified as Daniel Patrick Finke, was arrested. An officer discharged their service pistol during the arrest process.
Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, the media relations officer for Prince George RCMP, praised the swift response of the police, ensuring the incident ended with the suspect in custody and no harm to the public. A search of the suspect and his vehicle led to the discovery of a firearm and ammunition.
Daniel Patrick Finke, aged 31, is facing charges of pointing a firearm, evading a police officer, and reckless driving. He will remain in custody until his scheduled court appearance.
