There is a delightful satisfaction that comes with enjoying a well-made burger. For a lighter twist, I drew inspiration from the classic turkey club sandwich. By replacing the traditional bacon with creamy avocado, a luxurious and smooth texture is introduced while maintaining the essence of the classic club sandwich. Seasoned ground turkey is formed into patties, grilled to perfection, and then served on a toasted brioche bun with all the traditional accompaniments. This flavorful dish comes together swiftly in less than 30 minutes.
**Ingredients**
**Burgers**
– 1 pound (454 g) lean ground turkey
– 2 tablespoons dried parsley
– 1 tablespoon paprika
– 1 teaspoon kosher salt
– 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
– 4 brioche burger buns
**Toppings**
– 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
– 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
– 1 avocado, halved, pitted, and thinly sliced
– 4 slices tomato
– 4 slices red onion
– ½ head iceberg lettuce, shredded
**Preparation**
1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
2. In a large bowl, mix the ground turkey with parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper, ensuring not to overwork the meat.
3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties approximately 1 to 1½ inches thick.
4. Grill the burgers until they develop a nice char and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the side registers 165°F, typically about 4 to 5 minutes per side. Flip the burgers once more and place a slice of cheddar on top of each patty. Close the lid to allow the cheese to melt, which usually takes about 1 minute.
5. Meanwhile, lightly toast the buns on the cooler side of the grill for about 1 minute or until they turn golden brown.
6. To assemble the burgers, spread ½ tablespoon of mayonnaise on the top and another ½ tablespoon on the bottom of each bun. Add the burger patty with cheddar, top it with sliced avocado, onion, tomato, and a generous portion of lettuce.
7. Serve the burgers hot with fries or salad.
