Looking for some exciting sports action after the World Series? McMaster University in Hamilton is gearing up to host the 2025 U Sports Women’s Soccer Championship, featuring top university teams.
The tournament, set to kick off this Thursday and run through Sunday, will culminate in the championship game at 5 p.m. on the final day. CBC Sports will be airing the matches live.
Eight teams will be vying for the prestigious Gladys Bean Memorial Trophy, with the University of British Columbia (UBC) leading the seedings, followed by the University of Montréal and University of Toronto, among others.
UBC Thunderbirds Eyeing Third Consecutive Title
The UBC Thunderbirds are aiming for their third national title in a row, having conceded just one goal this season. McMaster University highlighted in a recent news release that a win would solidify their status as the first team in modern U Sports women’s soccer history to achieve a three-peat.
For McMaster Marauders, this championship marks their return to the national stage since their fourth-place finish in 2018.
Viewers can catch all the action on CBC platforms, including CBC.ca/sports, CBC Sports YouTube, and the CBC Gem app. The matches will take place at Ron Joyce Stadium, with ticket prices ranging from $5 to $25 depending on the day and ticket category.
